Does it feel like your website is invisible?

Did you develop your website thinking that it would be the "magic bullet" that would help your business get the attention it deserves? But now, are you finding that people only visit your website if you tell them to go there?

When a small business owner develops their first website, they often spend a lot of time thinking about the text for the site, creating a beautiful design, and coding it well. But, that's only part of the website task. And, only doing this much of the website design process means that you'll wind up with a site that's just pretty—and not effective.

The piece that's missing is that most small businesses don't think about how to make their website work well for them. For a lot of businesses, having a website that works well means different things. But, for all businesses, there's one job that your website should be doing for you—and that's pulling new prospects in to your business.

There's a lot of ways that a website can do this—paid advertising, link exchanges, sending out mailers telling people to come to your site, or even cold calling. But, most of these options are both expensive and have a low conversion rate—and, it's harder to build trust with people who find you in these ways.

There is one more option for really getting the word out about your website, and bringing in lots of new visitors and prospects—through the Search Engines. And, this is actually one of the most effective ways to get the word out about your website and to get a lot of new clients in your door.

Ranking well changed my business.

When I started my business 5 and a half years ago, I created a beautiful site, that was well coded, and put it up online. Then, I waited, and hoped that people would find my site and hire me!

Over the next couple of years, I spent a lot of time and energy trying to get people to come see my site. I went to networking events, collected peoples' addresses as I met them, spent a lot of money on postcards and mailing them out, and spent a lot of time hanging around on mailing lists and Craigslist looking for work. My website was just something that I could point people to once I met them.

Then, one day about 3 years ago, people started filling out my contact form—asking me to give them quotes on their projects and to give them more information on my services! And, these people were coming from all over the US—even a few came to my site from as far away as Europe. So, suddenly, I had business flowing in the door and I had a much wider reach than I'd had before—a bigger customer base to work with.

When I asked these clients how they'd found me, I kept getting one answer consistently: "I found you on Google."

It was my lucky day! Google had finally picked me up and ranked me well enough that people were coming to me instead of the other way around. This change was really making a big difference in my business—I was getting more clients, and I was having an easier time getting those clients. I decided that I wanted to keep that going.

I started researching Search Engine Optimization, to find out how this lucky accident happened. In the process, I learned a lot about how I could not only keep the good ranking I was getting, but improve my ranking for other terms as well.

The best part of it all was that it was easy! Once I started learning about what the Search Engines liked, I was able to put together a system that made search engine optimization a pretty simple process.

And, I've used that system to make sure that my website ranks well for several keyword phrases. In fact, I've been in Google's top 10 for my keywords, consistently, for the past 3 years. I've also used this system to make my clients' websites come up well in the Search Engines for their best keywords.

But, hiring a web designer or coder to optimize your website is expensive.

It takes time and a good bit of knowledge to get any website to rank well in the Search Engines. So, if you go to get a quote from a web designer, a programmer or a Search Engine Optimization specialist, you'll get an estimate back with a large fee attached. These fees can be really high - $5000, $10,000 or even more for just a small website. That's because this knowledge is viewed as highly specialized; the hourly rates for performing Search Engine Optimization can be $150-500 per hour! Optimizing a website is often just too expensive for small businesses.

I think every business should have a website that ranks well on the Search Engines—no matter how small they are, or how low of a budget they are on. After all, without getting your website found by your potential customers, you'll have a hard time making your business grow and bringing in the revenue that you need.

So, I wanted to find a way that I could take the system that I'd developed and make it available to every small business. I also wanted to make sure that it was understandable and easy to follow—even for the least tech-savvy entrepreneur.

I've developed this system to do just that.

As you know Erin, I do a lot of interviews with people who know a whole lot about internet marketing. And I have heard about Search Engine Optimization for years. But never has it seemed so possible for ME to make it work for ME.

As we worked together on this project, I had an epiphany. Yes, my friend, a real life epiphany. Since I have never really gotten any business from my websites in the past, I always thought that any business I would get from the web would come from people I SENT to my site.

Now I realize that there are literally thousands of small businesses and solo practitioners out there would kill to have a nice little "How to Get Great Testimonials" product. By listening to your SEO discussion, suddenly my potential market grew exponentially.

I can still keep focused on my tight market niches, but now my web site can expand my reach literally to the entire world of small businesses and independent professionals. THAT is a huge and exciting market. Thanks for showing me a clear cut path to reach them through SEO.

Are you hesitating?

That's understandable. This is a big step you probably never wanted to have to do—after all, your website is just supposed to work, right? This should just automatically happen for you!

Unfortunately, getting ranked well on the Search Engines doesn't just happen—it takes a bit of knowledge and effort to do it well. And, I want to give you the knowledge and the tools to do it right. But, you might just not be ready to believe me. I get that. I hear objections about this all the time. Here are a few of the most common:

Search Engine Optimization is supposed to be so difficult—I'll never be able to do it.

Of course Search Engine Optimization sounds hard now—because you don't know anything about it! And, because most web designers and coders make it sound really hard - so they can get paid the "big bucks" to do it for you.

Once you understand how the Search Engines work, and what they're looking for, it actually becomes a really easy process. And, I'll tell you all about that in the second section of the interview.

At its' core, Search Engine Optimization is really just a fancy term that means that your website's copy is written carefully. So, if you can write, or if you have some text on your website that you can make edits to, you'll do just fine. The copy that you write doesn't have to be fancy or flowery—it just has to sound professional and believable.

I'm really not technical—even if I manage to understand all of this Search Engine stuff, I'll never be able to put it all on my website!

Rest assured, the "Search Engine Stuff" is actually pretty simple to understand. Search Engines are a little technical—but they're really concerned about making good recommendations to the people who are coming to them to search for things they need or answers to their questions. So, it's more about the relationship than about the technical stuff.

And, you can do most of the work that's needed to optimize your website using any word processing program and by looking a few things up online. Once you have your worksheets filled out, and your copy all written, you can hand all of those over to anyone who codes websites and have them plug all the information into your website for a fraction of what it would cost you to have them optimize your website for you. For the average 10-15 page website, it should take a good coder just a few hours to swap out the text as required.

I just don't have the time!

It does take a bit of time to go through the full Search Engine Optimization process. But, think of all the time and effort you're going through to find your clients or sell your products now. And, think of all the money that your marketing efforts are currently costing you. Now, add to that all of the money that you could be making if you were selling more products, or if your customers were coming to you for your services instead of you going out to find them.

Now, would spending a bit of time to put all that money in your pocket and to get all that time back be worth it?

Search Engine Optimization will enable people who are interested in your products or services—qualified leads—to find your site and learn about your business. So, instead of you spending all that time looking for people to pitch or market to, they'll be coming to you wanting to buy.

If you have a question or a concern about why this system wouldn't work for your website, please don't hesitate to contact me!

I'm all about making sure that I make things as easy as possible for small businesses. So, I want to make this an easy decision for you by offering not just one, but two guarantees.

The "Not A Geek" Guarantee

I guarantee that you don't have to be technical, or "a geek", to do the search engine optimization on your website. If you can write a sentence, you can do it! If you read it, and you decide it's too technical, you can return the product - but I'd love to know your questions so that I can improve it.

The Try and See Guarantee

Search Engine Optimization isn't magic. You can't just buy the book and see results instantly, without doing any work. If, after giving it a good, solid effort—you aren't happy with the system, or if you don't start to see results for some of your keywords—you can return the system.

And, because I know that this process takes time, I'll make this offer available to you for a full 6 months after your purchase. That gives you plenty of time to give it a try and to see how it works.

Keep in mind that this is a process, and that it will take time for your site's ranking to improve on Google—so all I ask is for you to go through the process and to give it a chance to work.
